HUBERT H. HUMPHREY PROGRAM 2008-2009

The U.S. Embassy Office of Public Affairs is pleased to announce the opening of the competition for the 2008-2009 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship. This program brings mid-career professionals to the United States for 10-months of academic and professional work, providing them with an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities through participation in specialized non-degree programs developed specifically for small clusters of Humphrey Fellows at selected U.S. Universities.
Humphrey Fellows are provided an overall experience that broadens their perspective, enhances their capability to assume greater career responsibility, and provides the opportunity to establish professional contacts in the US. To accomplish these objectives, programs are designed to include various combinations of coursework, independent projects, internships, seminars, field trips, and consultations with US faculty & experts.

Eligibility/Requirements:
• Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Have a minimum 5 years of substantial and professional experience
• Have demonstrated leadership qualities and/or a record of public service
• Commitment to public service
• TOEFL score report (Minimum 525 paper-based, 195 computer-based)

The Humphrey Fellowship provides: international travel, tuition and university fees, accident/sickness insurance, monthly maintenance allowance, and funding for books and professional activities. The Humphrey Program does not provide financial support for accompanying dependents.

FULBRIGHT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PhD PROGRAM 2008-2009


The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia & Herzegovina is pleased to announce the opening of the competition for the 2008 International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for outstanding foreign students. This award, designed to be among the most prestigious international scholarships in science and technology, is for Ph.D. study at top U.S. institutions in science, technology, or engineering.
Grantees receive tuition, a monthly stipend for up to 36 months, health and accident coverage, a book and equipment allowance, professional conference allowance, travel support, and specially tailored enrichment activities, and are eligible to apply for additional research funding. After three years, U.S. universities will be expected to cover the remaining expenses toward completion of a Ph.D.

Aeronautics and astronomics/aeronautical engineering, astronomy/planetary sciences, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, computer sciences/engineering, energy, engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), environmental science/engineering, geology/earth and atmospheric sciences, information sciences/engineering, materials science/engineering, mathematics, neuroscience/brain and cognitive sciences, oceanography, and physics.


Eligibility/Requirements:
• BiH Citizenship
• Have a strong academic background in the sciences
• Hold an undergraduate degree completed before August 1, 2008
• English proficiency (recent TOEFL score report of 580 or higher)
• GRE General Exam score report of at least 700. (Note: a GRE Subject Exam score report will also be needed for all selected candidates in the following fields of study: biology; biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology; chemistry; computer science; mathematics; and physics.)

FULBRIGHT STUDENT PROGRAM 2008-2009

The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia & Herzegovina is pleased to announce the Fulbright Student Program competition for research in the United States during the 2008-2009 academic year. Scholarships are awarded competitively and are subject to the availability of funds.
The Fulbright Student Program is a non-degree program that brings student researchers to the United States for a nine-month academic year beginning in August or September 2008. The Student Fulbright Program is intended for independent library and/or field research toward a Master's or PhD degree. Students will establish professional contacts in their field, enhance their scholarly work, and gain international experience and personal enrichment.

FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM 2008-2009

The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia & Herzegovina is pleased to announce the Fulbright Scholar Program competition for research in the United States during the 2008-2009 academic year.
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program brings scholars to the United States for up to one academic year of professional research with the goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright experience should be of value not only to the scholar, but also to the scholar’s home university – its students and faculty – as well as to the host US institution. Fulbright scholars serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their country, culture, and research to academic and community groups.
